STEROIDS

What Are Steroids?

Steroids, technically known as corticosteroids or anabolic-androgenic steroids (AAS), are synthetic substances that mimic the effects of natural hormones in the body. Corticosteroids, such as prednisone, are commonly used in medicine to treat conditions like asthma, arthritis, and autoimmune diseases due to their anti-inflammatory properties. On the other hand, anabolic-androgenic steroids are synthetic variations of testosterone, the male sex hormone. These steroids are often associated with muscle growth, strength enhancement, and athletic performance.
